CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM (CEP)

As part of the continuous initiatives on People & Organizational Development under the 5-point value creation strategy, the UEM Group has established a Continuing Education policy for its employees.

OBJECTIVES            

a.  To encourage our employees to improve on their academic qualifications and develop themselves to handle more challenging roles and responsibilities.

 

b.  To extend financial assistance to deserving employees who wish to pursue continuing education programs.

This policy covers the types of programs listed below:

  1. Certificates

  2. Professional Qualification e.g. ACCA, CIMA, etc.

  3. Diploma/Advanced Diploma

  4. Degree

  5. Masters

All programs must be undertaken on a Part-Time basis to avoid disruption to the employees’ job responsibilities as well as the companies’ operations.

 

ELIGIBILITY  

The program is open to employees of the UEM Group and applicants will need to meet the following prerequisites:

 

a.  Completed four (4) years of full-time employment with the UEM Group.*

 

b.  Achieved PMS rating of 3 or above on performance management system evaluations throughout the applicant’s period of employment in the Group.

 

c.  Application for Part-Time Diploma programs is only allowed for employees who have not obtained any higher academic qualifications.

 

d.  Application for Part-Time Degree programs is only allowed for employees who have not obtained their first degree.

 

e.  Application for Part-Time Masters Program is only allowed for employees who have obtained their first degree.

 

f.   Application for Part-Time Masters Program is only allowed for employees who are placed at grade E4 or above; E5’s may be considered on an exception basis with strong justification and company recommendation.

 

g.  Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least a Second Class Degree or the equivalent. (For Masters Program application).

 

h.  High potential members of the Group’s Emerging Leadership Program & Premier Leadership Program may also be selected to pursue the Masters programs.

 

i.   Programs selected must be relevant to the employee’s job responsibilities as well as company’s business needs.

 

*    Employees who wish to pursue Professional Qualification e.g. MICPA, ACCA, CIMA, etc. need not complete 4 years of employment to apply. However, justification from the company is required.  

 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

  1. 70% of course fees for the Continuing Education Programs will be subsidized through the program fund and the remaining 30% will be borne by the employee. Such arrangement will ensure that participants are highly committed to the program.

  2. All other related expenses such as books, travel, examination fees, etc will be borne by the employee. Employees under this program, will not be eligible for the reimbursement of examination fees under the Group’s policy.

  3. Bonding will be applicable during the duration of the program plus 1 year upon completion. Employees who failed to complete the program, resign or are terminated from the Company during the program and the bonding period will have to reimburse the subsidized amount.

  4. Employees who are currently pursuing continuing education under existing schemes eg. MICPA and others will not be subjected to this policy. The bond will only be applicable for programs that cost more than RM10,000.
